Mahasudarshana Churna is an antipyretic preparation used in Ayurveda i.e. it is used to alleviate all types of fevers. It reduces ‘Ama’ (toxins) and helps you fight fevers and infections. Mahasudarshana Churna clears channels and increases sweating. This reduces any fever in your body.

Here is how you can prepare Mahasudarshana Churna.

  • Harad or Haritaki – Chebulic myrobalan (Terminalia chebula) – 10 g 
  • Amla – Indian gooseberry (Emblica officinalis) – 10 g  
  • Vibhitaki (Bahera)– Belliric myrobalan (Terminalia bellirica) – 10 g

Preparation of Mahasudarshana Churna

  1. Use clean, dry ingredients of the above herbs. They are pounded and filtered to a fine powder.
  2. All the ingredients are taken in the above-mentioned proportions and mixed evenly.
  3. Kiratatikta – a potent antipyretic herb is a vital ingredient of this formulation. It is added half of the total quantity of the other ingredients.

Store this mixture in an airtight container.

Dosage and Instructions

The recommended dosage is 1-2 grams of this powder with honey or lukewarm water before or after food. Consult your physician first before taking this Churna.

Mahasudarshana Churna is prepared using the same ingredients but in the form of tablets for those who don’t prefer to consume powder as it has a bitter taste. The recommended dose is 2 tablets 2-3x a day before or after food with lukewarm water.

However, note that Churna has a better absorption rate than tablets which is why many Ayurvedic practitioners recommend Churna over tablets. This does not mean that powder is better than tablets. It is all a matter of preference.
